Ciao! We are the Farinelli family – Marcelo, Elise, Giulia, and Lily. God has called us to join his redemptive mission in Italy. We have been here from November 2012-April 2017 and now again from April 2019-present. We are so excited about what God is doing nationally and in our local context, and we want to say thank you for your interest in our ministry.
Did you know Paul was here? We live in Siracusa, and Acts 28:12 says, “We put in at Syracuse and stayed there three days.” We like to think he enjoyed some good pizza and a couple of cannoli after he docked. Just kidding.
Did you also know that if you Google the number of Christians in Italy it will tell you that 71.4% of the nation is Christian? Italy has the appearance of a Christ-following nation but the reality tells a different story. If you want to know more about the state of faith in Italy we would love to expand on it with you.
Our passion is to equip God’s people in Italy to do His work and to build up and unite His church. We aim to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,” (Ephesians 4:12-13 ESV).
The past three years we have been working with the local church that Marcelo’s family planted 23 years ago: helping to establish vision, grow leaders, and grow and rebirth ministries. We have also been working to teach Italian church leaders what “missional living” means, using an incredibly effective tool developed by Communitas, called the Dynamic Adventure. Our goal, along with the Communitas Italia team, is to take this throughout the nation and influence Christians about what it means to minister intentionally to the network that God has placed around each one of us.
We love what Darrell Guder has to say about missions: “Mission is the result of God’s initiative, rooted in God’s purposes to restore and heal creation.”
