We met as freshmen at Simpson College in San Francisco (now Simpson University in Redding, California) where we had a rich education in Bible, Theology, Missions and life! We were married in 1978 after Daphne earned an MA in Counseling from the Christian Ministries Dept. of Wheaton Graduate School. Our mid-life re-direction to Europe was the fulfillment of a dream that began in college – to minister in Europe! God just had some other things for us to do first!   David started a hardwood floor contracting business in the San Francisco Bay Area.   We had 3 terrific kids (Ian, Jessica & Megan).

In our home church in Santa Rosa, CA, we were encouraged to stretch ourselves: David volunteered for years with the youth group and helped reshape and advance the mission committee there, including 4 trips to India.   He also started an annual family mission trip to Tijuana Mexico. Daphne was part of a team who brought Stephen Ministry to our church and in 1999 joined staff as Director of College Ministries. Together we led several short-term mission trips to Ecuador.

When our kids left home and began their own families (we now have 4 fabulous grandkids! Photos available upon request!), we sensed God was finally opening the door for us to leave home as well! In 2006 we discovered Communitas on the web and within 6 months were accepted as Church Planters! In August 2007, we moved to Madrid to work with Mountainview and in August 2009 joined the Lisboa Matrix in Portugal.   With the transitions of the Lisboa Matrix team, we have recently stepped into a Leadership team of three - a triad leadership - for Lisboa Matrix.

We feel privileged to walk with so many fascinating people who are discovering that God really knows them and loves them! One great bonus about being in Europe – you stay focused on the essentials – the Truth of God’s Word and the centrality of Jesus!   Together we are exploring what it means for PEOPLE to be the church – not the buildings or programs!
