Scum for Scotland

Scum for Scotland is a project led by affiliate Communitas staff and Scots, Stuart & Lynsey Gilmour (pictured with their daughters Hiromi & Indie). Their mission is to respectfully serve and share the good news of Jesus Christ in Scotland’s anti-mainstream community in and around Glasgow & Bathgate. The reference to ‘scum’ comes from 1 Cor. 4:13 (“when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world–right up to this moment.”)They believe God wants them to:

  • give the community the opportunity to respond positively to Jesus’s service and good news.
  • bring hope and healing to the community when it is affected by the; spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and physical issues often found within it.
  • let the community know that He loves them as they are, and that His aim is to transform lives, not stifle, or disregard their creativity, expression, and indignation.
