Job Description

We are looking for a pastor/pastoral couple who can work to support and grow what God is doing in Aix-en-Provence through AIC. The main focus will be reaching out to, equipping, and building up the faith of the international church and the local French community. This is done through personal contacts, Café Lumière, homegroups, ministries, outreach events, and the Sunday worship services.

There are many opportunities to encourage and build up faith in different situations with different people groups. For example, pastoral work with marriages, youth work, supporting the needs of a number of parents to see faith become reality to their teenagers.

The leadership of Aix International Church is built around the elders. Because the pastor will join this leadership team, collaborating with the elders to implement the vision and mission of AIC, it is expected that the Pastor will fulfill the Biblical requirements for eldership. The pastor will work with the elders, volunteers, and other church leaders to cover the different ministry and outreach activities. Being able to work with others on a team is important to succeeding in this role. Providing leadership through effective delegation, equipping, encouragement, coordination and personal discipleship within the local body are important aspects of this role.

The persons taking these roles will need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be growing in their faith and relationship with God so as to lead the community in their walk of faith and understanding of the scriptures.

Funding

Aix International Church is not currently in a position to fund a salary for this position. The ministry expenses of this position are funded through personal support raising, self-employment or bi-vocational support.

AIC has provided expenses towards rent and French health and social coverage amounting to 18,000 Euro/year and can expect to provide this type of contribution in the future. In addition, the church may be able to encourage funding from other sources, for example financial support for the position may also be possible through affiliation with a missionary organization. In the past AIC has worked with Communitas and ICC-Eurasia to enable this support.
