To know me is to know someone who has always been a bit unconventional and on the outside – being the class clown of my high school and forming a fringe club on our campus based on the rabbit in Monty Python in the Holy Grail! I have re-discovered this in myself as I began an investigation of Santa Barbara culture outside the church beginning in 2002. I found a desperate need for creativity, experiment, and designed new missional communities embedded in the city itself.
I have been married to my wife Julia since 1990 and we currently live in Buellton, CA. We have three wonderful kids – Kairos, Kennah, and Kalum. Since 2005 I have been engaged in missional work in the city of Santa Barbara – working with marginalized populations such as men and women experiencing homelessness, survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, and at-risk families. My original work was founded under Christian Associates and called the Uffizi Mission Project. I am now starting a new work with a new community plant called Margin – seeking to build a home for those who have been “done” with the current church model and who are expressing an interest in greater creativity and building new initiatives of justice in Santa Barbara. I am looking forward to a brand new adventure and building new communities in partnership with Communitas International.
I look forward to partnering with you in the future. We will be partnering with Jesus to bring Shalom to Santa Barbara built on God’s Prophetic Imagination and invite you to join us!
