An American woman met a Greek man at a cafe in central London. It may sound like the set-up to a good joke, but it’s really their calling to ministry and intercultual living.

Kristen and Thanos lived in a combined 5 countries and speak two languages at home. They also have a buffet each of employment experience before joining Communitas. Thanos has served as a solider, kitchen chef, and pastry chef. Kristen worked for a software developer, FEMA, accounting, and youth ministry. As their dating relationship grew serious, so did their interest in serving in Thanos’s home country of Greece. They were married in March 2023 in London.

Kristen and Thanos envision growing God’s kingdom in Greece, specifically to those under-resourced. They are preparing and training to provide academic, artistic, and social services for youth, refugees, and anyones God beings into their care. With backgrounds in hospitality and community development, their dreams also include nurturing and empowering their neighbours through shared meals, community gardening, and art lessons. In preparing for this, Thanos is studying Fine Arts and Biblical Studies. He eagerly awaits seeing how God combines these two interests to grow His Kingdom. Kristen is preparing through language and leadership training, and hopes to practice Greek while gardening with neighbours.
