At Communitas International, we’re on a mission to cultivate communities of faith that radiate the transformative love of Jesus in every corner of our neighborhoods. The Dynamic Adventure, our resource for leaders, outlines an incredible journey that begins with intentional listening in our daily life. We get to know our neighbors. We look for what God is doing in our midst. We notice the needs around us. We call this embedding in the cultural context.
That’s how it happened in Paraguay. Picture this: Emerson and Layanne, driven by a passion to make a difference, ventured into the city of Presidente Franco. Their goal? To truly embed themselves in the heartbeat of the community, to listen, to understand, and to respond with purposeful action.
What began as intentional listening soon blossomed into Colorear, a project that touches the lives of over 100 children weekly, equipping them not just with life skills, but with the boundless love of God.
When seeds slowly grow as we respond with purposeful actions to express God’s love, we call this initiating. This may involve serving food, beautifying a city block or caring for children. It lays the groundwork for sustainable incarnational faith communities.
Emerson and Layanne’s story is just one of many echoing across Latin America.
Frederico, hailing from Argentina, now spearheads a transformative initiative in Tarapoto, Peru. Emanuel and Kesia, fresh arrivals in Uruguay, are already witnessing the profound impact of embedding themselves in the local tapestry of needs and dreams. They are amazed by the connections that the Spirit has brought as a result of listening well to God’s movements in the neighborhood. Initiating is just around the corner.
But this isn’t just about isolated projects. It’s about catalyzing a movement, about nurturing leaders who multiply the impact exponentially. Just last month, 60 leaders from Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Paraguay convened online, hungry to learn, eager to be catalysts of change in their own communities. Some travel late into the night to attend webinars hosted in different time zones and drive for hours up a mountain to access cell service so they can join the training.
