Michael, Vanessa and their son Joseph reside in Warsaw, Poland. Michael served with Saddleback and Calvary Community Churches before coming onto the Communitas staff in 2004. Vanessa served as an employment specialist for World Relief (Seattle) before joining Communitas in 2015. Michael leads the advancement team for Eastern and Central Europe coaching and training leaders in starting new missional initiatives, communities and churches.

Eastern and Central Europe advancement covers most former USSR countries. His approach to ministry is to see an uncommon unity amongst Eastern/Central Europe churches as they devote themselves to furthering the Gospel of Jesus through discipleship, caring for those in need, and the beginnings of new churches.

The Katzenberger’s enjoy learning new cultures and developing new friendships. Joseph is a little missionary too. He is always up to meet and greet new people. When you meet him, be prepared to give your name and number of children. He is more interested in your kids and if they can play then your name. 😉

Michael enjoys watching college football (UCLA), Bundesliga (Bayern) and the NFL (Seahawks). In his free time he likes to go for hikes, check-out a new city and dreams of fly fishing in the Pacific Northwest. The best times are spending time with family and friends.
