What started as a Bible study in a flat, developed into a house church in 2014 and grew too big and we were forced to move. Upper Room Church is now over 250 people and we meet in a local church on Thursday evenings in the West End of Glasgow. Primarily made up of Persian speaking refugees and conducted in English and Farsi, our aim is to become a church that expresses many nations. Our name is derived from the fact that we were in an ‘upper room’ flat and during a time of teaching in the Book of Acts (1:13), we made the connection to the first church!

Our gatherings involve four main elements: worship through music & song, a fellowship meal, expository preaching (with a focus on how to apply the Word in our lives), and prayer. Our time of prayer involves gathering around people and giving thanks and praying in Jesus’ name for their needs. We are committed to what some call “prayer evangelism”…that is, people meeting Jesus in supernatural answers to prayer and in the spirituality of fervent prayer itself. We believe this is a hallmark of Upper Room Church.

Lastly, we have many support projects – conversational English classes, a Homework Club, supporting/serving a local Foodbank, an Evangelism team, Worship ministry, a social enterprise supporting refugees into employment and many others.
